Sports News: Sarfaraz Khan has put in substantial off-field training, losing 17 kilogrammes in a deliberate effort to regain his place in the Indian team after being dropped out of the England tour. Despite a promising start to his Test career, the 27-year-old was unable to join the important five-match tour. Sarfaraz was a member of the Indian squad on their tour of Australia, but he did not play since coach Gautam Gambhir preferred Washington Sundar on seamer-friendly pitches.

Despite a strong domestic record and a promising start in international cricket, he was passed over for the England series, with selectors preferring Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair.

Criticised for fitness

The 27-year-old has long faced criticism for his fitness, particularly his weight, which many believe delayed his Test debut despite solid performances in domestic cricket. His hitting ability was never in doubt, but concerns about his weight frequently surpassed his abilities, forcing him to wait longer than expected for an opportunity at the highest level.

The Mumbai batter posted a photo on Instagram stories of himself looking exceptionally fit and stated that he has shed 17 kilogrammes. His change also drew the attention of his social media followers, who were amazed by his effort.

Biryani is replaced by avocado

The 27-year-old has been on a weight loss quest for some months, and his father, Naushad Khan, discussed it in an interview with media in May of this year. After missing out on the England Tests, Sarfaraz travelled to the UK with the India A squad, where he struck a magnificent 92 in the first unofficial Test but was dropped from the following match to make space for KL Rahul in the XI.

Sarfaraz's father's statement

"We have controlled our diet a lot. We have stopped eating roti, rice, etc. We haven't eaten roti or rice at home for 1 to 1.5 months. We eat broccoli, carrot, cucumber, salad, and green vegetable salad. Along with that, we eat grilled fish, grilled chicken, boiled chicken, boiled eggs, etc. We are also having green tea and green coffee. We eat avocados also. There are sprouts also. But the main thing is that we have stopped eating roti and rice. We have stopped eating sugar. We have stopped eating maida (flour) and bakery items," Naushad told the media.
